View ProjectNahal Residential Complex
Nahal Residential Complex is an architecture and urban design project in Khuzestan, Iran, completed in 2020 for Mrs. Nahal Khairy. The scheme arranges a group of mid-rise residential blocks around a generous central courtyard, so that homes, streets and shared green space are planned together as a small, walkable neighbourhood. The blocks are clad in brick laid in a mix of deep red and sand tones, with the two colours stepping across the facades in a lively, patchwork pattern. Recessed balconies hold planters, windows are framed in dark metal, and rooftop solar panels can be seen in the aerial view. The brick buildings frame the street edge and open inward to the courtyard, where tree-lined paths, cobbled paving and flowering beds lead to a central water feature, shaded seating areas and small garden gazebos. Throughout the courtyard, timber pergolas and stepped stone seating create shaded walkways and places to gather, and a low community pavilion with a timber pergola roof sits at the edge of the gardens. Planted terraces, lawns and flower beds in purple, yellow and white soften the brick architecture and give residents a shared outdoor living room. The result is a warm, human-scale residential complex that combines architecture and landscape.
