Pourscandari Building is an architecture design project in Tehran, Iran, completed in 2019 for Mr. Pourscandari. At the client's request, the building was designed in a classic style, and the facade draws on neoclassical architecture: a light, stone-toned exterior with fluted columns topped with Corinthian capitals, layered cornices, carved keystones and tall arched windows that run across several floors. The composition steps and projects in depth, with stacked bay windows, balconies with classic balustrades, a pediment-crowned entrance portico and a second portico above the secondary entrance. A stepped, gabled roofline with small spire-like finials gives the building a distinctive silhouette against its neighbours. Large arched windows with delicate glazing bars bring daylight into the stairwell and upper floors, and at night soft up-lighting on the columns, cornices and window reveals highlights the depth of the stone detailing. At street level, clipped evergreen shrubs, low hedges, flower beds and a paved garden path frame the entrance and soften the stone facade. The result is a refined, formal residence-style building that brings timeless classic character to its Tehran street.
